The neighborhood is San Isidro, one of Lima's best areas to live in. It is safe to walk around at every moment and it is centrally located (but of course, you should always be careful wherever you are, better be safe than sorry!).

I really love my location especially. I've always lived in the area and when looking for my own apartment, I knew I didn't want to go far from where I used to live. It is very close to the touristy places like Downtown Lima and Miraflores, but it's much more quiet. And close to my apartment you will find virtually everything you need within walking distance, so I've put up this list to guide you through everything Av. 2 de Mayo has to offer, which is where most of the commercial places are within the area.

Everthing you need is just steps away

Supermarkets

Supermarkets

You'll find the best 2 supermarket brands just a few steps away from the apartment:

Wong

Wong is the most traditional supermarket in Lima (and yes, it was founded by a Chinese immigrant, hence the name, you'll find we have a great deal of Asian influence especially in our gastronomy).

Wong is the one you'll find closest to the apartment!

Operating hours: Mon - Sun 8:30am - 9:30pm

Vivanda

Vivanda is the "other" great supermarket chain. It's also a couple blocks away from the apartment, but on the opposite direction.

This one is a lot smaller, and so its offering is not as sorted as Wong's. However, if you're a freshly baked bread fan, Vivanda's got the better one!

Operating hours: Mon-Sun 8:00am - 10:00pm

Pharmacies

Need a pharmacy? Well, you've got 6 to choose from! Keep in mind operating hours are till around 10:30pm, there's no 24/7 pharmacy around. If your plan is going to Cusco after Lima, I would suggest getting altitude sickness pills!

MiFarma

You'll find one:

  1. Inside of Wong (see directions)

  2. At the opposite corner of Wong's entrance (see directions)

  3. A few more blocks away (see directions)

You'll find one:

  1. Across the corner from Wong (see directions)

  2. Inside Vivanda (see directions)

  3. A few more blocks away (see directions)

InkaFarma

Convenience Store

If you need to buy something after the supermarkets have closed, this could be a savior.

Tambo+

Tambo+ is a short walk away from the apartment. It's open from Mon - Sun till 11:00pm

Cafes

There are 2 Starbucks around the area, so it all depends on which way you wanna go!

Personal recommendations: try the Perú-exclusive flavors, Lúcuma Creme Frappuccino or Algarrobina Frapuccino!

Starbucks

Sarcletti

This one is just around the corner! It also falls under the restaurant category, but it's popular with coffee lovers and is also a breakfast spot.

Personal recommendation: Like ice cream? Theirs is amazing! Their club sandwich is also great.

Rovegno

Rovegno has been around for as long as I can remember, and even my father used to go here when he was little. It's one of the most traditional bakeries in Lima, and this location was the first one to open. It's a cash-only place and their register is probably 60 years old! It's something to watch.

Personal recommendation: fresh out of the oven delicious bread and pastries!

Restaurants

Ok, this is a hard one. In Av. 2 de Mayo only, there's tons of options for you to eat. So I will put them in categories and you can go from there!

Keep in mind that every option on this list is within walking distance!

always handy while on a trip

Money

If you need to exchange money as soon as you arrive in the airport, I would suggest keeping it to a minimum, as the rates close to my apartment are better. You have 2 options you can choose from:

Panamerican Trading

This one is just on the other corner of the apartment. Good for dollars and euro!
